It was recently reported that car importers raked in billions of shekels in profits from the public.
There is no doubt that car imports are one of the most profitable areas in Israel, and there is no doubt that the automotive industry generates huge profits, often at the expense of the consumer.
Car importers earn huge sums as a result of the poor competition in the industry and the excess bureaucracy that exists in the market.
It appears that the Ministry of Transportation failed in the regulation it imposed on the industry and it appears that something is not going well in the automotive market.
It cannot be that consumers are paying huge excess amounts.
And we pay so much for importing a car, and all of this is due to the high payments to importers.
What can be done to deal with this market failure and how can it be overcome?

The solution – importing a personal vehicle

It seems that the solution to the market must come from several directions and we must do everything to lower prices for the consumer. One of the solutions in which the Ministry of Transportation and Finance, What we need to do is drastically reduce the bureaucracy on the issue. And they must allow more players to enter the market as competitors to the large car importers. But there is another solution that can be implemented to lower prices in the market, and that is to bring vehicles from abroad. Importing personal vehicles allows people to import private vehicles personally and thus overcome the market failures that exist in the field of regulated imports. The more we allow and remove barriers to imports, the lower the prices of cars in Israel will be and we will be able to buy vehicles much more cheaply. Therefore, a call is made to the Ministry of Transportation and the Ministry of Finance to facilitate the import of personal vehicles and do so in the largest possible way.

Importing requires a lot of effort from us if we do it independently and alone. We must take care when we import the vehicle for a variety of approvals. And we have to go through many bureaucratic hurdles and all in order to import the vehicle in the best possible way.
